Investment

Very early stage ideas and innovations from university R&D are difficult to invest in.  This is often due to the complex nature of the underlying solution, the need to access patient capital when it’s needed and because the lead researcher wishes to stay in their research role and not follow the idea in to the real world.

Additionally, ideas and innovations that have environmental or societal impact are overlooked in favour of commercial returns.  These and many other idiosyncrasies of very early stage investing make university R&D/IP a difficult area.

However, the PIPE General Fund and gDAO is a web3 solution where people who are specifically interested in university R&D/IP can come together and form not only investment groups, but also advisory groups as part of the PIPE Associate Network (PAN) to support, hands on, the development and investment of new ideas and novel innovations.
